A "best of" of Munich retro synth-pop artist Sebastian Gampl, this compilation takes in songs from last year's "Master Switch", 2015's "Winner" EP, and one from 2014's "City Hunter".
If the cover art didn't give it away, this is a record of unashamed '80s-style synth-laden sun-kissed pop complete with the odd soaring guitar or saxophone solo, and indeed in an alternate universe any of these tracks could've easily been on the Top Gun soundtrack. Vocals are mostly supplied by German pop singer Tommy Reeve (here misnamed with an extra 's')
Whilst not my usual fare, its oddly compelling in its authenticity, and just a whole lot of fun. Whether you've donned your lycra for your gyrating gym class, or are playing beach volleyball with the boys, this record isn't going to feel out of place.
