Fog Lake's downtempo lofi shoegaze bedroom pop is the work of Newfoundland's Aaron Powell, who specialises in slow building soundscapes that lap at your feet before gently washing over you, interspersed with more folky efforts, all with slightly distorted vocals that are light, airy, calming, and generally melancholic.
Powell has released a number of albums and EPs, but this 2017 effort is my favourite, in no small part down to opener "Novocaine", which is simply stunning, and sets the tone for a painfully beautiful record.
This is very much one to kick back and relax to, but it's also far more in that it holds up to in-depth repeat listenings as well.
