Released almost 5 years ago, this was the final (and fifth) full-length of one of my favourite bands, Uniform Motion, who by this stage had completed their transition from indie-folk duo to indie 5-piece behemoth.
Opening track and sort-of-single "False Start" had the radio play chops, video, and length to reach a wider audience, but throughout the album there's the sense that this is the most polished, nuanced, and accomplished of the band's output, all the way through to the hauntingly beautiful closer "Mutual Sessions".
Indeed, there's a lot of beauty to be had here, with glorious slow-building falsetto-kissed arrangements making up the bulk of what's on offer. Each song stands up on its own, but also works as part of the whole, resulting in a cohesive and stunning album.
