As mentioned when I posted the protectors album, I am a big fan of the music and songwriting of Chris Charlton (currently of Shake Your Halo Down), and so here's the sole full length from yet another one of his projects that should have been huge but weren't, his '00s band Pylon.
"The Standard Fight" is an indie rock/pop album that easily holds up against any of the major label "indie" stuff that was floating around at the time, with fantastic production, great and memorable melodies, catchy choruses, and emotive lyrics.
Standouts include the opening title track, and the closing tour de force of "YoYo Blue" and "Another Moment", but there's not a bad song here. The CD release came with a second disc titled "09 Songs" which includes their self-titled mini album and "2400 Volts" EP - both are also on their bandcamp and well worth getting too.
