The Ambulars were from Philadelphia, and featured Michael Cantor (whose solo work is released as The Goodbye Party, and was also in The Afterglows who I posted about previously here).
This sole album from 2012 is a joy, with charming and introspective vocals from both Cantor and bassist Jen Twigg and tons of catchy choruses. The sound really reminds me of Helicopter Helicopter; mid-paced, melodic, guitar-centred indie rock / power pop, with gorgeous albeit comparatively under-utilised vocal interplay between Twigg and Cantor.
It's a satisfying listen, and just when you think it's coming to an end, and maybe you'll put something else on, "At Least We Have the Night" comes out of nowhere and leaves you wanting more.
