Asthmaboy are a home studio recording indie duo from Seattle, WA, who caused quite a stir when they released their debut "Later Days" via their website back in 2007 - I seem to even remember reading a Guardian article about it.
They then recorded an EP-length album of 12 short songs with lyrics based on old postcards, which I think was supposed to be a private project (maybe a birthday present for someone?) but I somehow ended up with a copy, anyway 2 of those songs were later reworked for this, their 2nd full-length proper.
"Wanderers" is a beautiful, sombre, light, airy, melancholy, and at times quite powerful record, but never overly self-indulgent, although with the exception of "Careful Where You Hide (Jupiter)", I don't really get the point of the celestial body appendages to the song titles; the theme seems but surface deep, although it's pleasant enough.
Here is a record full of guitar-indie-lullabies to delight and wash over you; poignant, gut-wrenchingly uplifting compositions that lightly play your heartstrings until a slight lump fills your throat, almost unnoticed.
One to sit back and take in, as you wait for the next record, which is apparently on its way.
