I've posted about Accidente previously, but they just dropped this new record without warning yesterday after four years in the making, so I'm obviously gonna post about it too 🙂.
The socially and politically conscious lyrics that make Accidente such a force to be reckoned with are still very much present and as poignant as ever, as is the frantic melodic punk guitar riffage and noodling, but on "Caníbal" the songs have a grander and dare I say more epic feel.
Take for example "Demonio" with its "Ahhh" backing vocals and subsequent breakdown, or "Colze a Colze" with its lofty chorus, or how "La Mataron" slowly builds to its rock-out-conclusion - all small differences, sure, but ones that demonstrate a progression in their songwriting and style.
Of course, it's still an Accidente album, so it's gorgeously melodic in places and frenetic in others, Blanca's vocal delivery is as spot on as ever, and at 10 songs it's almost over before it's begun - and I'm absolutely fine with that. Accidente do absolutely everything on their own terms, something I doubt will ever change, and this new record is very very welcome.
