Singer-songwriter Emi Night is celebrating her birthday with this compilation of some of her favourite demos, which should remain available for at least 6 more days.
Such collections live or die on the quality of the songwriting, and fortunately in this case we have a live one. The lo-fi style is very reminiscent of Summer Salt, who were Emi's band in Colorado before she formed Strawberry Runners in Philadelphia, and whose album I posted about on this very page not two months ago.
Mostly just Emi and guitar, these no-frills numbers are enchanting and hauntingly spellbinding, even if the odd cough or mistake breaks the spell from time to time to remind you that these are indeed demos.
So, Happy Birthday to Emi Night, and to everyone else, grab this while you can!
