From Saint รtienne, La Peau et les Os (Skin and Bones) play jangle and synth folk pop built on top of prominent drum machine and guitar rhythms that gradually build and hold everything together.
It can be kind of abrasive at times, but for the most part the folkier elements, embellished by ukulele and violin, take precedence, although that violin can get pretty discordant. The vocal style also varies somewhat, with both indie-folk crooning and spoken word.
The songs then on this, the band's 2014 full-length, mostly alternate between hypnotic industrialism and catchy toe-tapiness, and make for an intriguing record.
