I haven't exactly posted much psychedelic rock here, but this new album on Snappy Little Numbers grabbed my attention, and who wouldn't want a record where the second track has the refrain "We're Gonna Kick Space in the Ass"?
This is the second album from Californian "Heavy Space Rock band" Empty Palace, and is full of nods to hippiedom with a sound that harks back to the '60s/'70s; organs and both faux-Eastern and Western rock guitar solos plus anglophile vocals, although there's also some wonderful old school '80s keyboard and sci-fi-style samples flying around the place.
If I'm honest I find the two 5 min+ songs a little long in the tooth, but I suspect that's just me, and I'm genuinely enjoying the rest of the record, with its contemporary nostalgia and sense of humour, not to mention the fact it genuinely rocks.
