This one has been "on the list" of albums to post for a while, but just jumped to the top after I received an email from Et mon cul c'est du tofu?, a prolific DIY label from France, saying that it was folding, which is a genuine shame.
So this, Radical Kitten's "Silence is Violence", is one of the label's final releases - a record of brash, energetic, shouty, queer feminist "rrriot postpunk no wave".
It packs quite a punch from the get-go, flying out the traps with sheer abrasive exuberance, although things do let up for the more avant-garde no wave / noise tangents and breakdowns. Don't get me wrong, there's also melody here that prevents this from being an all-out aural assault, not to mention some rather prominent bass-lines that often add the odd groove to proceedings.
It's a fun listen, plus if you're ever feeling downright pissed off, you could probably do worse than to give this a blast.
