This put a big smile on my face, both for the "punny" band name and the music itself!
Jean Claude Jam Band were from Massachusetts, had split releases with The Serious Geniuses (the tracks from which are on this release) and Get Bent (the track from which isn't on this release, despite the "Discography" title).
Described as "Replacements-style D.I.Y. punk/rock", I'm not super keen of their rather sloppy and jokey cover of "Bastards of Young", but each original on here is solid, with heaps of hooks and harmonies and an infectious energy. My favourite tracks are oddly enough the longer ones - it's like the band needed the aural space to truly rock out...
This came out on Dead Broke Rekerds limited to only 100 cassettes. Maybe it's time for a reissue on vinyl?
