Four of the last five songs on "Made to Rust" sound like RVIVR. I mean really sound like them. Then there's "Lazarus" and album finale "Cumberland Queen", two dead ringers for Jason Anderson's louder numbers. I could go on (actually I did, but deleted it cos it got really boring) but suffice to say that, to my mind at least, Dumb Luck sound like other bands more than other bands usually do.
None of this is to say that I don't like this album - indeed I love it. The songs are memorable, with personal lyrics, plenty of hooks and great production. I especially enjoy the latter part of the record when the vocals of bassist Caitlin Garets are more prominent - I've always been a sucker for the guy/gal dual vocal thing.
This is a top-notch melodic hardcore / punk album, one of my favourite records of 2020, and really quite deserving of your attention. It's got the makings of being a bit of a classic.
