Yeah, we're once again taking liberties with the "album" in the blog name, but the 2018 self-titled EP and 2020 follow-up "Revisitor" from Texas' Debunker work well played one after another, so that's basically an album. Plus any excuse to post some gruff-punk...
Played at a fair old pace, with a corking guitar sound and suitably gravelly vocals for the most part, the ten songs here show Debunker to already be a pretty accomplished act. The songs are shorter than those of most bands doing this sort of thing though, and I'd have liked to see some of the ideas developed and maybe added to a little bit more. It's no coincidence then that my favourite song here is the longest; the comparatively leviathan 3 minute epic "Outside Looking In" which builds wonderfully with dual vocals before a short to and fro breakdown leads it to a superb climax.
Still, what is here unquestionably rocks, with lots of energy, melodicism, and grit, and I am genuinely looking forward to and hopeful for a full-length proper.
