Walter X - What Are You Trying to Prove?

 

Walter X is a project of Jump Cut's Michael McHaffie, and answers the question of what Walter Mitty and His Makeshift Orchestra might have sounded like had they become a straight edge hardcore band instead of becoming Walter Etc. 

I love Walter Mitty and His Makeshift Orchestra (and have previously posted an album by them on this very page) so this was always gonna be a lot of fun. There are lots of 8-bit / synth embellishments, samples, drum machine bits; unsurprisingly the sound isn't too dissimilar to Jump Cut. 

What really comes through though from listening to this is just how strong the songs are - I'd wager this would also be a great listen for someone less familiar with the material.
