Don Blake - Tough Like Diamonds

Don Blake's brand of skate-punk tinged pop punk would be right at home amongst the rosters of Epitaph Records or Fat Wreck Chords. As it is, the band just released a mini-album earlier this year on the (still) excellent Brassneck Records, but we're gonna focus on this gem of a self-released full length from 2018.

Described as playing "sad songs with as much melody as they can squeeze in", Don Blake also squeeze in plenty of fun riffs, the odd hair-metal noodley guitar solo, enjoyable vocal interplay and great harmonies.

It's a cracking album, played at a fair old pace (nothing really oversteps the 2½ minute mark), with a number of potential earworms, and if you're a fan of pop punk you can't really go wrong with this.
