Released ten years ago. "Enjoy the Weather" is the sole album put out by Selfish Whales; recorded as it was not long before the group disbanded.
Indie pop meets folk punk on a record of light and catchy songs full of strings and horns and wholesomeness. Vulnerable, honest, and relatable lyrics pervade through the album, contrasted at times with a more observational slant ("Iraq", "Dying Dance"). But even when the lyrics reflect on the more trying aspects of life, there is always an air of positivity present.
I don't know what they put in the water in Bloomington, Indiana, but this is another cracking release from that part of the world, and although those in the band have since moved on, the album they've left behind is still well worth checking out.
