Jesus and his Judgemental Father - It Might Get Better

Self described as "4-piece queer punk" and "'90s teen movie style pop punk", Jesus and his Judgemental Father produced a 2nd and final full-length of memorable and sincere songs on love, loss, and life.

Relatable lyrics abound, all wrapped up in tunes that are on the poppier side for the most part, although there are still moments of grit, with "C.W.N" and "Queer + Damaged" being particularly hard hitting when juxtaposed with the more poplike numbers, a contrast that's damn effective.

My only complaint is that the album feels a bit on the short side, but what is here is open, laid-bare, and honest, and certainly holds up to repeated listenings.

The band went on to put out a collaborative EP with Rae Spoon before sadly calling it a day in 2018.
