"On With the Experiment" was the sole release from London indie-rockers Remainderfour and, 15 years on, it holds up superbly.
Featuring the wonderful vocals of frontwoman Gemma Mather, and complemented by some really quite tight musicianship, this is a well-produced classy effort that I'd assume is below most people's radar these days, but is certainly worth being reminded of.
"So this is a Goodbye" is gorgeous and my personal favourite, but there's a lot to like here, with the emo-hardcore pedigree of the band very much in evidence in the angular post-hardcore moments. The label-made comparison to some Revelation Records bands is about right to be fair, if not exactly throughout the entire record.
Overall with those vocals and the almost-pop-sensibilities on show, this is an album that should be pretty accessible to most, as long as you're fine with the odd musical post-hardcore dabble from time to time.
