Ok, I know you shouldn't judge a book (or album) by its cover, but there's no getting away from the feeling that the album artwork here is bloody awful.
Fortunately, the same can't be said of the music. Produced by one Jeff Rosenstock, and featuring re-recorded versions of two songs from their rather fantastic "Get Awesome" EP / demo (download from here), "Grow" is a toe-tapping rock album featuring great guy/girl vocals and catchy hooks, embellished with keyboard tones that add distinctiveness and a fair bit of character. Yes, it sounds like I'm describing some sort of drink, but it's true.
Whilst I do wish they had also re-recorded the other 2 songs from their demo, what is here is compelling, varied, and damn enjoyable. And, it sounds different enough to set itself apart from most mid-paced rock out there.
