Men I Trust - Oncle Jazz

Smooth bass (as in guitar)-forward funky chillout from Montrรฉal. Exquisite airy vocals are complemented by a head-nod-inducing backing that more often than not conjures feelings of carefree summer days. Or something.

Absolute album highlight for me is "Pines", its narrative-based lyrics accompanied perfectly by its melancholy musical style.

If I had to find fault (aside from the cover art), I do think that 26 tracks is a bit much; I'm not totally enamoured with the opening salvo until "Tailwhip" kicks in, and the "Pines"-following duo of "Slap Pie" & "Fiero GT" are out of place, and there's probably a few too many interlude tracks in general, but these are all minor gripes, and don't detract from the main takeaway that this is just a marvelous record.
