Brazilian / American singer-songwriter Samira Winter releases bedroom pop demos under her full name, and uses her surname for her band proper, with whom she performs the gorgeous indie shoegaze dream pop she terms "star-projecting music".
This is the band's 2015 debut full-length, and it's an indie record at heart, although the glistening sparkle of dream pop is certainly present. Being bi-lingual, Samira sings in both Portuguese and English, although it's more the latter here.
I like the shimmering layers created by the synth and the jangle of the rhythm guitar, and the smooth brass-like embellishments that lend a slightly retro feel on several songs, as well as the slightly discordant riff on opener "Someone Like You", the rock guitar intro to "Crazy".
It's a beautiful, heartfelt, and quite summery album.
