Sour Boy, Bitter Girl have a few records under their collective belt buckle now, but today's post takes us back to the 2013 debut from this country / indie folk band from Denver, Colorado.
It's an eminently listenable record full of drawled vocals about deserts and wolves, with bright yet unhurried accompaniment that makes prominent use of organ & keyboards, which lend a distinctive sound to proceedings.
"Desert Wolves" is my personal favourite for how it takes such a simple riff and makes it an essential part of the song, and for how the song just ends with a guitar solo, and for how it really does conjure up the image of a windswept desert, but this album is far from a one trick pony.
In fact, I'd say this is a bit of a gem.
