This page has oddly drifted into emo of late, but for this, the last post for now, we're right back in gruff beard punk territory with this collection spanning the career of New York's Down in the Dumps.
Things kick off with one of the longest songs here; one of two from the split 7" with Tiltwheel, which are followed by J Church cover "Lama Temple" from a fundraising album for Lance Hahn, who sadly passed away almost 13 years ago (the anniversary of his death is on Wednesday...)
The next 11 songs are pulled from the band's sole full-length "Dumps Luck", the highlight of which for me is the breakdown in "Raggedy Anne" and subsequent "Farmingvillains", but it's all pretty good.
"Bummer" is taken from the 4-Way Split with Fellow Project, Potboiler, and Red & Blue (available here).
"Knee-Deep In Spite" & "Little Fonzie (Sleepasaurus)" are both pulled from an unreleased split 7" with I Farm, after which we have four songs from the "Fuckin' Wit Dirty Pipes Pt.2" demo and the unreleased "Far From Cryptic Doom".
Down in the Dumps' brand of hardcore / beard punk belies the pop sensibilities buried throughout, and this collection definitely contains more than a few gems.
