Ok, this page is back up and running as the UK government decided to put The Netherlands on the naughty step, and I just got back from there. Yes, it feels odd given the numbers over there are way lower than the UK's. Maybe a bit of over-compensating after stuffing up the UK's earlier response by not locking down nor closing the borders when most of Europe did? Whatever the case, the end result for this page is another 14 days of posts during another self-isolation period.
And we're kicking off with four EPs from Long Island's Nightway, the most recent of which dropped just last week. These ex-punks have swapped their guitars for keyboards and are producing some top-notch synth-laden new wave with perfectly pitched vocals that veer between new wave vacuousity and beard punk gravel. It works really well.
Their newest EP "IV" is probably the most immediate of them, and a great place to start, but it's all good, and I especially like the guest female vocals on the first two records, something that I hope reoccurs on future releases.
If you like your Long Island Punk (Latterman, Iron Chic, etc) then this'll certainly be of interest. If you like your new wave / synthpop all broody and neon, these guys could well be your new favourite band.
