No Choice are Welsh punk royalty. Playing miners' strikes in the '80s before breaking up, their early output of demos and singles was later compiled by the excellent Grand Theft Audio records in 2001.
Following the band reforming, 2003 saw their debut album "Dry River Fishing" come out as the very first release by the sorely missed Newest Industry Records (RIP), after which they toured the States with Against Me!.
The album was released Stateside by No Idea Records in 2004, and that year the band also played the first gig (of two) put on and promoted by yours truly in the bustling metropolis of Aberystwyth, something that I'm certain was a career highlight for them (actually, it was a pretty good night).
Their second album was also released on No Idea in 2008, but fast forward to 2012 (otherwise I'll be here forever) when this, their third and most recent album came out, on gorgeous blue vinyl with a CD-R thrown in.
Any doubts that No Choice have always been a political punk band are promptly dispelled by opener "Coalition Blues", but this record probably shows No Choice lyrically and musically at their most diverse, dare I say even a touch experimental at times. Songwriting is top-notch, as the production.
There's even a veritable pop hit in the form of "These Nights".
The band's website domain has expired, and their FB hasn't had a post in 4 years, but I'm still hopeful there's more to come from these guys...
