We've all been there. You're listening to some killer indie-dream-pop-punk and you're like, "This is good, but do you know what would make it even better? A Game Boy".
Well, Crying are the answer to such musings.
This album is actually a mashup of two EPs; "Get Olde" was originally released in 2013 on Double Double Whammy and Jeff Rosenstock's Quote Unquote Records, with the latter describing the record as "... like Liz Phair trapped inside a Game Boy writing the rock record of your dreams".
The EP was later remastered and combined with 2014's "Second Wind"; the latter pretty much picks up where the former leaves off, albeit with maybe a touch more prominence given to Elaiza Santos' vocals. At any rate the two EPs segue together seamlessly, and form a vital, bright, and frantic record, and one that takes the best parts of chiptune / 8-bit and makes them its own, and keeps it all interesting.
Chiptune / 8-bit can get a bit dull and repetitive at times, but not here!
