Chris Farren and Jeff Rosenstock have a bromance par excellence, partly (and initially) derived from collaborating under the Antarctigo Vespucci moniker, named for Amerigo's fictional Antarctica-discovering sibling. This is their 2nd and most recent full-length; a pop / rock opus that feels like it's destined to be a bit of a classic.
Farren takes lead vocals through hook laden, harmony packed jangly keyboard-tinged numbers that often careen into distorted indie guitar rock anthems and back again, full of personal but relatable lyrics.
The songwriting on this record is simply phenomenal; there isn't a dud here (ok, opener "Voicemail is a bit throwaway), and it's all immediate, but not too much so. We're talking memorable songs with a touch of familiarity, the kind where you wonder how it could be that these songs hadn't been written before now.
Can't recommend this album enough really...
