Peach Kelli Pop is the side project of the White Wires drummer Allie Hanlon, who combines garage rock and lo-fi twee power pop in a style very reminiscent of girl groups from the '60s, albeit with the odd more contemporary flourish (and sample) thrown in. This is the 2nd of three self-titled albums, from 2012.
It's a charming record, full of short sweet blasts of gorgeous, slightly distorted harmonies with lots of "oohs", and good-time retro vibes, and one that's bound to garner a smile or two from most.
Granted, with only two of the ten songs on offer making it past the 2½ minute mark, it is over in a flash, but if anything that adds to its appeal; if you ever needed an album to pop on as a 'lil pick-me-up, this would fit the bill.
It's uplifting, joyous, unpretentious, and a lot of fun.
