Ah, Steven Adams. I would've been 15 or 16 years old seeing his band Hofman at The Portland Arms, and shouting "Come On!" in a call and response bit of banter, and getting invited on stage to do it down the microphone. This is the band that used to project different images behind themselves at live shows, including a popular monkey, leading to calls of "Show Us Your Monkey!", which ended up being printed on the inside of the wallet of their "Reaching Around Hofman" EP; whatever possessed me to pinch that open and look in the first place escapes me to this day.

Indie/Rock became Americana for The Broken Family Band, who through five albums and two mini ones probably ended up as the most successful Cambridge band at the time. I wish both bands' stuff was on Bandcamp. Then there was Singing Adams with a "The" for his proper first solo album, and without for the two albums with a full band. And then came performing as Steven James Adams, as the Portland Brothers with longtime collaborator Timothy Victor, and most recently as Steven Adams and the French Drops. Whatever the moniker (on Facebook it's Steven Adams Sings), the strength of the songwriting, not to mention Adams' unmistakable voice, always shine through. And so, here's Old Magick, the second album as Steven James Adams, and it's pretty representative of the bulk of his output. We're talking gorgeously warm and enticing folk / indie; mature, well produced, and eminently listenable. "Ideas" is probably my favourite song on the record, as the most relatable and intimate, but it's a wonderful album when taken as a whole, and I'm just stoked that this album is (at least currently) available for Name Your Price, so I'm able to share it on my silly silly little page... :-) 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 / 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺: http://stevenjamesadams.bandcamp.com/album/old-magick
