Annalise were one of the more important underground punk bands of the late '90s / early '00s, championing their local scene at the Exeter Cavern, and releasing three albums (as well as two mini-albums and several EPs and singles) on labels including No Idea Records in the US, Snuffy Smile in Japan, as well as Boss Tuneage Records and Pigdog Records (RIP).

Here Come The Intrepids was an acoustic project that Annalise frontman Martin "Ed" Edmunds had apparently been wanting to do for years and, joined by his friend Keith Jones, it finally came to fruition in 2011.

The album tells the story of a young dreamer who runs away from home, and it's a truly charming and poignant listen, with some really quite catchy songs and intriguing narrative-based lyrics.

Released by the wonderful Fixing A Hole Records in Japan on CD, and digitally by Unsane Asylum in the US, this is a mostly undiscovered gem.
