Acoustic rhythm guitar and banjo (used for both rhythm and lead) provide the backing for glorious vocals in this folk-pop / folk-punk-tinged trio.
Singer Bethamy delivers emotive, melancholy, honest, narrative-fuelled lyrics with consistent precision and beauty, at times contrasted by backing vocals that have a more gravelly edge to them. All the while the banjo / guitar combination keeps everything ticking over nicely, and occasionally can be truly mesmerising.
Yeah, this is a bit of a gem.
