Garage Rock with stoner and surf elements, this is totally head-nod inducing with really strong song writing. How strong can come as a bit of a surprise, given the LoFi recording (frankly I've heard better sounding demos) but the songs really shine through, and once you adjust to it, you quickly realise the production suits the stoner influence - it wouldn't sound right as a more polished affair.
Open guitar, slightly distorted vocals, lyrics about women and weed, it doesn't take much to imagine this being played live in some dank and smokey basement bar. There's a timeless quality to the music, and with zero filler over the 8 tracks, Dead Beach's debut is definitely deserving of your attention.
Shame they broke up...
