Shoegaze isn't a genre I spend much time with, but I'm very much a fan of the dream-pop-infused variant that Toronto's Tearjerker have been plying for over a decade now, across plenty of singles, 4 EPs, and 5 or 6 albums (depending on how you count 'em). "Faded" is their most recent full-length, released last year.
For the most part the band employs an often hypnotic and at times even mesmerising use of guitars, keyboard, and samples, over the top of which float airy, slightly distorted vocals.
The title track is the absolute highlight here - it's near enough the perfect song; sombre and emotive, yet gloriously anthemic despite the restraint inherent in this style of music, and it's got one hell of an earworm of a refrain.
But it's all good 😉 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 / 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺:https://tearjerker.bandcamp.com/album/faded
