𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗻 - 𝗕𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻

Melodic punk / melodic hardcore in the vein of Leatherface or Hooton 3 Car is one of my favourite kinds of music; get that guitar sound right basically and I'm yours. Even so, I remember not being totally convinced by Chillerton's sole full-length back when I first heard it; indeed it's likely that I've listened to it more in the past few days (as a result of Boss Tuneage Records' 30th birthday, this post is another one celebrating that) than I did when I first picked it up.

And I'm glad I have, because this is a fine album, as long as you're happy with your melodic hardcore veering towards more conventional hardcore than most bands of this ilk, and you can get used to the vocals.

There's actually a fair bit of variety here for the punk aficionado; compare for example the quite brazen hardcore-style of opener "All We Know" with the melodic punk guitar intro of "If One is Three There's Four", and on first listen you might think you're listening to two different bands. The truth is of course that the Chillerton are smack bang in the middle of the two styles, and can tend more towards one than the other on any given song. The result is an album that might take a few listens to get into, but is really quite rewarding once you do so. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 / 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺:
