As an avid Screeching Weasel fan in my teens, I was always gonna be interested in Dan Schafer's The Methadones. This is their debut album released 20-odd years ago, and is probably one of my favourite pop-punk albums.
There's something about how Shafer's moderately-paced discrete-note singing style is complemented by the more frenetic (yet still measured) pace of the music; this is a toe-tapping, head-nodding, bluesy form of pop-punk. Plus it's genuinely a great album to listen to whilst driving (remember doing that?).
