𝗠𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁 - 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮 𝗗𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝘀 𝗠𝘂𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗼𝘀

This is the second album from Mike Scott, who was the bassist in Phinius Gage and the singer in Lay It On The Line, and also played in River Jumpers and Anti-Establishment. Solo, he does the whole acoustic, singer-songwriter thing, and does it well.

Through ten wistful forlorn songs Mike is ably backed by a supporting cast that includes Luke Yates from The Human Project on violin, and Ren Aldridge from Petrol Girls doing backing vocals, and both of them substantially contribute to the melancholy that's found throughout. Mike's vocals are certainly distinctive (I can't really think of anyone else he sounds like), plus they're warm and sincere, and whilst I could've done without the "intros" on the first 2 songs, this is a beautifully touching and sombre record.
